Five top reasons to use a sales rep
By Susan Tracy of Joanne & Company.
Ever wonder why you should use a rep, we offer these 5 reasons to ponder. It is our belief at Joanne & Company that a good rep is one who partners with their customers, creating and fostering a “win win” relationship for all. A good rep is a person you trust to serve YOUR best interests.
- A FREE business consultant! A good rep wants you to succeed and will only offer you products that they believe will help you accomplish this. They will also let you know if something you chose has been a slow mover in your territory…so YOU get to decide whether to order the item or not. Manage the territory to control/avoid “saturation” of product. A good rep will let you know if you have ordered too much of some things, and not enough of others. You learn to trust them to advise you in YOUR best interest.
- Can keep you advised of current trends. Your rep will keep you advised of what is hot right now, reactions to various products shown at various “market shows” etc. Asks you what you are looking for and even if they don’t carry it, they may know where to send you to find it. Asks you what your future plans are so they can keep an eye out for you.
- Is a liaison between the manufacturer and you the retailer. You are busy running your business, so your rep can handle any issues regarding shipping, billing etc. This is especially helpful when there is more than one manufacturer involved. Your rep will “check in” with you, letting you know of specials, see if you are low on product, or anything else you need to know. If you like, they can do inventories on those products that seem to disappear before you have time to notice! Just let them know how they can best serve YOU.
- Can offer helpful merchandizing tips. If you need assistance with this, your rep can help. Keep in mind, they see the products in many different settings, and can quite possibly help you in showing off the product to help it move more quickly.
- Is available to help promote product during your Special Events. Many stores have open houses or Trunk Shows. The use of your rep during these events can offer valuable information to your customers, and another FREE resource. If your rep is unavailable perhaps they can train your staff on specific product.
These are just a few of the reasons why we think you should use the services of your local sales rep. They know your store, your territory, and your special needs.
